Instructions
- Select the bank and tuning you would like to edit. (You can do this on Balsam's interface or by using the buttons above.)
- Press a note on the keyboard to hear it on Balsam.
- Drag notes from the keyboard into the slots above to edit Balsam's tuning. You can also do this in reverse.
For the best experience, enable MIDI CC and keyboard input on Balsam.

Windows Only
Windows machines may need a one-time extra step to connect BALSAM.
- Download and run Zadig.
- Put BALSAM in update mode: connect over USB-C, power off, press and hold the tuning encoder, power on. All LEDs will pulse slowly.
- In Zadig, click Options → List All Devices.
- Select BALSAM BOOTLOADER from the dropdown.
- Set the target driver on the right to WinUSB. The left side shows the driver currently bound — usually (NONE), STTub30, or libusbK. Any of the three is expected.
- Click Replace Driver.
- Power cycle BALSAM, then run the update again.
Advanced Options
Select a specific firmware version or upload a custom .bin file. Your choice arms the update button above.
Factory Reset
Reset all settings and tunings to factory defaults. Serial number is preserved. Power cycle the device after resetting.
